The recent King’s Birthday NRL clash saw Canterbury and Parramatta play in what’s known as the ‘I4Give Cup’. This initiative arises from a horrific car accident in Western Sydney in 2020 where 4 children were killed as pedestrians when struck by a car driven by a man under the influence of drugs. The man responsible went to prison, but the family involved came out and publicly declared their forgiveness for him. The father, Danny Abdullah, appeared recently on Channel’s Nine Sunday Football show in which he explained their ability to forgive stemmed from their faith. They were convinced their 3 children and niece were with God in heaven meaning they could extend forgiveness to the man. Their hope enabled them to forgive. Next month at St Peter’s we’re running a course over 3 sessions called ‘Hope Explored’ in which we’ll be considering the hope Jesus offers to all. Everyone is invited, especially if you’ve never been to a church group before. Bible bashing is not permitted, but honest discussion certainly is. The course is running on Tuesday 22th & 29th July, and 5th August from 12:30-2:00pm at the church.
