Part of God’s Team

The winter sport season, in full swing here, has come to a close in the northern hemisphere. Liverpool are football champions of England and two other teams, Manchester United and Tottenham, battled it out for supremacy in the Europa League Final. I was reminded of the exploits of a fan named Karl Power who managed to get on the field before a big European clash involving Manchester United and Bayern Munich in 2001. Dressed in full Manchester United kit, Power posed with the rest of the team for the official pre-match photo. Power’s antics got me thinking about the relationship Christians enjoy with Jesus. The Bible speaks of how the believer has died, been raised and exalted with Christ, and will appear with Christ at his return. If a photo was taken of Jesus at each key moment of his life, the surprise is believers are found to be included with him, meaning everything that happens to Jesus, happens also to them. Jesus secures their place on God’s team. All are welcome to join us as we reflect on these things in our current sermon series at St Peter’s
