Peace at Christmas

We live in a world in great need of peace. On 11th November I gathered with others to commemorate Remembrance Day, marking the moment an armistice was signed to end fighting in WW1. It’s right we continue to meet to mark that occasion and remember many who have fallen to preserve the freedom and peace we enjoy today. A sad reality is that war continues to happen. The Great War did not turn out to be the war that ends all war, as it was hoped. Added to this global distress, is the war that exists within us as individuals battling with demons of our own, not to mention conflict in our families which may be exposed all the more at Christmas. The Bible identifies the source of all this conflict with a war humanity has waged against God. Christmas is a time we remember that God acted to end this war by sending his own Son Jesus in the form of a man. We’d love to see you at St Peter’s over Christmas to hear more of how Jesus Christ has accomplished an enduring peace that will last forever.
