Powerful Needlework

Recently I led the funeral of a lady who had done some outstanding needlework or cross-stitch creations. Her work was so good it won her first prize at the Sydney Easter Show. I know very little about cross-stitch. But what I do know is for any thread to penetrate the canvas, it has to be attached to a needle. The needle alone can penetrate the canvas, but it takes with it any thread that’s attached. Jesus is a lot like that when it comes to our death. On our own we can do nothing to overcome death. We are as powerless in the face of death as a piece of unattached thread is before a canvas. But if we become attached to Jesus, like thread becomes attached to a needle, Jesus has the power to take us safely through death. The way someone becomes attached to Jesus is by trusting in him. If you’ve never come to church before, or it’s a long time since you’ve been, we’d love to see you at St Peter’s. We even have an Art4Fun group which meets on a Monday to nurture your creative talents.
