Christmas is over for another year. No doubt many of us gathered with families during this time. Family events can be happy occasions, but for some they can be filled with tension. Times together can put us on edge, making us careful in what we say, and relieved when the occasion passes. These are all symptoms of living out of step with one another. The Bible says humans live out of step with God, meaning our interactions with God are marked by similar unease and hostility. The wonder of the Christmas message is that God sent His Son Jesus into the world to correct this distorted relationship with Him. By dying on the cross, Jesus enables us to have a restored connection with God, meaning there is no longer any need for us to avoid or mistrust Him. Jesus means we are able to come to God at any time and live out a renewed relationship with Him each day of the year. ‘Discover’ is a 5-week course we’re running at the church on Monday evenings beginning on 9th February from 7:30pm if you’d like to consider these things more.
